Mena Alexandra Suvari Bio

Mena Alexandra Suvari (born on 13th February 1979) is an American actress, fashion designer, and model. Following her first modeling venture She quickly moved into acting. She played guest roles on television shows Boy Meets World (90s) and High Incident (90s). In 1997, she made her film debut with the drama Nowhere. She began her transition into major roles with her performances in American Beauty, for which she was nominated for an BAFTA Award, and American Pie and American Pie, which both earned her wider attention. She has also appeared in Loser (2000) along with Jason Biggs, her American Pie co-star. Later, she played the main character in Sugar & Spice (2001). She was also in the independent drama Spun, and the thriller film Trauma in 2004. In 2004 she was nominated for the Best Cast Award at the 2005 Screen Actors Guild Awards. In 2008, she was cast in a number of films, including Day of the Dead, The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, and the film adaptation of The Garden of Eden. Suvari is an actress for Lancome cosmetics as well as advertisements in print for Lancome Paris Adaptive, and was featured in a variety of fashion blogs and magazines such as Vogue. Suvari is a tireless activist and a long-time supporter of the prestigious African relief organization, the African Medical and Research Foundation. She is active in the female empowerment issue and is involved with charities which have a cause, breast cancer, as well as the "End Violence Against Women Campaign".
