Sofia Margarita Vergara is a Colombian-American actor and presenter. Vergara was the highest-paid actress on American television between 2013 to 2020.Vergara gained notoriety when hosting two television shows for Spanish-language television channel Univision in the latter part of the 1990s. Vergara's mom Margarita Vergara De Vergara was a domestic worker, and her father Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo worked as a cattle rancher in meat industry. Her nickname was "Toti" by her five siblings and numerous cousins. Vergara was originally a student at the National University of Colombia in dentistry. She left after two years to pursue opportunities in modeling and show business.
